About FOR LOVE WE LIVE
FOR LOVE WE LIVE is founded in 2017 by us, Steef and Lucy. A couple since 2009, married in 2022 and since 2025 parents to our son Jin. From our cozy apartment in Rotterdam, we document love stories across the Netherlands and Europe.
Our photography is deeply inspired by cinema, human connection and the subtle interplay of light and shadow. We are drawn to photos that preserve a feeling - the atmosphere of a place, the energy between people and real emotions that cannot be staged. Photos that allow you to pause, feel, and remember.
We have had the privilege of photographing more than 300 weddings. Each one has reminded us how meaningful the smallest moments can be and how they will never exist in quite the same way again.

The approach
For us, trust is essential. When couples give us the freedom to work according to our vision, we can create our best work. We feel a deep responsibility to document your wedding in the most meaningful way possible. Depending on your preference and the scale and flow of your wedding, we can be booked with one or two photographers.
Our storytelling approach is mostly unobtrusive, allowing real moments to happen without interruption. Guests often ask if we are friends of the couple, which perfectly describes how we like to work: quietly becoming part of the day while capturing it from within. Our artistic and editorial perspective is naturally woven throughout our work.
When guidance is needed, such as during the couple session or group portraits, we will gently direct you to create beautiful, natural images. Subtle guidance may also happen during moments like getting ready or before the first look.

For those seeking a multi-sensory experience, we offer Art films in which we subtly blend our photography with editorial film fragments into a short and captivating 4-5 minute film. A fresh, combined approach for those who want more than stills but don’t require a full film from a professional videographer.
Photography remains the foundation, while throughout the day we capture small, intentional film fragments with the same aesthetic as our stills, adding movement, sound, and atmosphere. Together, they allow you to relive your day in a more immersive and emotional way.

Each year we work with a limited number of couples who value authentic moments & emotions, editorial artistry and want a photos that grow more meaningful with time.
Our process starts with a video call to see if we are the right fit for each other. It also helps us to shape the experience around you, focusing on the things that matter most to you as a couple. From there on we will guide you through the next steps leading up to the wedding.
Our clients gain access to a curated directory of exceptional vendors - from expert wedding planners to editorial stylists and master florists. This guide is designed to streamline your planning process with partners we trust implicitly.

FAQ
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?
On an average wedding, we typically capture between 3,000-4,000 photos combined. After carefully selecting and editing, we deliver approximately 50 photos per hour, depending on the activity level throughout the day. We don't provide unedited RAW files because post-processing is an essential part of the final product we deliver. RAW files also contain duplicates and test shots that wouldn't be useful to you. Rest assured, our curated selection will give you a complete visual story of your beautiful wedding day.
Do you always work as a duo?
We're a husband-and-wife duo and typically shoot together, which gives you comprehensive coverage and allows us to capture moments from different angles. However, we're happy to shoot individually if you prefer. You can see our different collections in our Investment Guide.
HOW DO YOU EDIT THE PHOTOS?
As you can see on our site, we have a distinctive film-inspired editing style. Our post-processing is rooted in film and analog photography because we love this aesthetic. We believe emotion and atmosphere truly shine when photos feel less "digital". We carefully adjust each selected photo for color and contrast. We don't retouch body features because we want to capture you exactly as you are. Minor skin imperfections are the only exception we make.
HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE PHOTOS?
We deliver your complete collection through a secure, private online gallery. You can view, download, and share your photos with guests and vendors who contributed to your day. If you'd like to print your photos through a lab other than standard options, our gallery offers beautiful, high-quality prints from professional labs. The gallery remains free to access for one full year.
WILL YOU HELP US WITH POSING?
Absolutely! We understand most people don't stand in front of a camera regularly. We work hard to make our couples look natural and relaxed—exactly as you'll see in our portfolio. During the shoot, Steef typically handles the photography and guides you through poses, while Lucy ensures every detail—your dress, hair, and other important elements—looks perfect.
